Grinnell Hotel is a restoration and rehabilitation of the original Grinnell High School building. Most recently, the building was the home to the City of Grinnell administrative offices.

The project involved removing most of the interior walls and ceilings that had been added through the years. The new program included 44 hotel rooms, 2 dormitory “bunk” rooms that sleep eight each, full service kitchen, banquet hall, exercise room, dining area, lounge and bar area, and an outdoor patio for use by guests and for special events such as weddings.

The building was eligible for historic tax credits and was placed on the National Register for Historic Buildings.

ID8 Architects provided Schematic Design through Construction Documents including common area interior design and finishes and coordination with equipment vendors. The project delivery method was negotiated with a selected general contractor.
