Fire Station Number 10 was a prototype building for the City of Des Moines intended to be constructed in new neighborhoods as the City expanded. The budget demanded homebuilder technology.

Additionally, the fire station is located next to single family housing required a roof line that would feel comfortable next to residential sloped roofs. The project was built on time and on budget and has received attention from many small Iowa communities looking to stretch their city budgets.
