The “L” at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa is a 132-unit dormitory located on the north side of their campus. The project was intended to complete that part of the campus with detailing and materials selected to match existing buildings and further define the campus.

The project’s interior responded to Grand View’s desire to provide a fresh urban environment. Materials were selected not only for their appearance, but their durability and maintainability. A loft appearance was used not only for its “look” but its ability to allow infrastructure to be added as needed in the future.

The project was built within a tight time schedule and tight budget. The projects best claim to fame is it’s 100% occupancy ratio for the years it has been open.
