Van Maanen Electric in Newton, Iowa is a 60,000 square foot warehouse and 12,700 square foot office building for an electrical contractor that has been growing and needs room for extra expansion.

The building is designed for the company headquarters and incorporates an industrial aesthetic through the innovative use of metal panels and custom details. For instance, the main stairway is constructed with steel plates but uses standard 1-inch electrical conduit for the guardrails. The client also asked for extensive use of daylighting controlled through an electrochromatic glass system.

The pre-engineered metal building warehouse portion houses the drive-in service bays, loading docks, service and wash bays and warehouse.
